How about shooting in hitherto unexplored areas such as African deserts? Mind you these are places where dangers are an integral part. Think Amazon forests? Or pyramids of Egypt? Or Gaza strips? (now you don’t gun me!) These can be amazing places to shoot for the Roadies season 7. Also MTV Roadies 7.0 can incorporate an ounce more of dare. Obviously, the mastermind behind Roadies, Raghu Ram would seek trade tips at least for the forthcoming MTV Roadies 7.

There is no doubt that the Roadies format is great; but the themes are not in the taste of viewers. Can we expect Roadies season 7 take new wings and fly a different route? It will be due next year and will be another tour of adventuretainment.

India youth finally had seen the winner of MTV Roadies 6.0 and what a nice feeling it gave me to see final moment experienced by the winner Nauman Sait; trying to hide that big grin. But let us take a recap of the Roadies before we ponder on the MTV Roadies 7 ideas and concepts to be.

MTV Roadies has been a very popular reality show in India that is telecast on every Sunday at 19:00 hours on channel MTV India. Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman are the men behind Roadies and the show is hosted by Rannvijay, who happens to be the winner of MTV Roadies 1.0. Unlike contestants chasing for money and fame with rendition of songs or twisting pelvis, MTV Roadies is an adventure-reality show which aims to test not only the courage but also spirit of young contestants, as they tour the country on bikes (a pre-decided route) facing all kinds of climatic vagaries and other challenges.

The contestants will face challenges that include but not limited to bungee jumping, fire walking, some times even banana gulping or ice cream slurping etc.The final five MTV roadies are gifted a Hero Honda Karizma bike. The man or woman that stands through last will also get Rs. 5 lakh in cash. Prior to selecting contestants, there will be preliminary auditions episodes that will be held in cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Kolkata. These preliminary auditions will feature several challenges such as group discussions and the selected few will be called in for a one-on-one interview.

It is here that the contestant’s attitude, tolerance and then the patience levels will be tested. MTV Roadies 6.0 saw as many as 20 roadies vying to become the best Roadie; a vote-out at end of every episode, reducing the number of roadies by one every week. From Season 4 the fever picked up well and conspiracy theory clicked very well so did the mind games. The kind of razzmatazz that MTV Roadie 5.0 fetched, Raghu Ram must have sought some better trade tips.

Although we’d followed MTV Roadies 6.0 I didn’t find it quite the way I’d expected it to be. Life is an adventure and I love to take life the risky way but in all honesty some of the tasks given to roadies reflect the sicko traits of the contest designers; collecting dung and human potty? C’mon what does it has to do with a roadie’s confidence I damn understand the logic behind this. It doesn’t need to emulate any other show, but the ideas could be much better.

Roadies 7.0 is due next year. Already, there are many imaginations populating the mind of the audience. A few striking ideas come out as glaring suggestions. A few believe that roadie shall now travel to Africa, a place where real, virgin dangers lie. It’s all great passing through Singapore and Australia but no place brings fear as nude as Africa. Pyramids are another place to shoot roadies 7.0.

The game shall also bend towards being more merit-driven. This would infuse raw talents to work their way better. After all, mind games are all right but a small mistake here and there and every thing can be shattered. The elimination of Roop in roadies 6.0 is a case in this point.

Roadies 7.0 shall also change the concept of biking to something more daring. In fact, each contestant shall be asked to be strong in one particular niche of adventure and his performance in that particular draw shall count. Wrestling bouts should be annulled as they need raw power and thus those who are light-weighted cannot perform as meritoriously.

Last but not the least, Raghu should figure more prominently in the game throughout the show.

Roadies is a reality show that has caught the nation by storm. The first three years might have been dull drones but the victory of Ranvijay and Bani in the fourth episode did make some news. The fever really began in the fifth year as a nation gripped in Roadie hysteria started devouring the television sets umpteenth time a day, whenever roadies 5.0 or its repeat was aired.

We simply loved the way conspiracy theory and mind games undid all and pushed few to the top. We loved the burly Chandigarh youth Prabhjot and the svelte and maneuvering Shambhavi. The cribbing Anmol and shrewdly unassuming Nikhil packed a punch too. But it was the village simpleton Ashutosh who really hit the biggest nail. He lapped the ultimate laurel having traveled through Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

With the kind of razzmatazz and subsequent TRP that roadie 5.0 fetched, it was but obvious, that producer and roadies mastermind Raghu Ram would seek newer trade tips. After all, it is no crime making the most of business opportunity like Roadies, especially when the format has really cut great corners with the masses.

Keeping all this in mind, the entire hoopla took wings. Roadies was given a rich propaganda and Raghu introduced his twin brother Rajiv for what was essentially a very difficult and intriguing round of first interview. The audience was always left dazed by what they had to offer. The uniqueness, the inventiveness sand presenting style was awesome.

The show has done rather well with the game having passed through the first few rounds of exits and ready to move on to the Australian soil. Again, the unassuming Kiri, the out-of-pocket Dev and rock-solid Bobby seem like a good bet. Obviously, there are many twists expecting us. Roadies” expect the unexpected” tag is not for nothing.
